Settings
The Settings page in Drive Explorer Pro allows you to control how file previews appear in your Google Sheet and how file access is managed when you upload or list files.
Image Settings
The Image Settings section lets you customize how image previews are shown inside your Google Sheet when uploading or listing files.
-
Resize image preview cells
- When checked, the extension will automatically resize the Image preview cells in your sheet to match the preview size you set.
- This helps keep your sheet neat and prevents images from appearing too large or too small.
-
Cell Width (px)
- Set the width of the cell in pixels.
- Example: If you enter
20
, the column width will be 20 pixels.
-
Cell Height (px)
- Set the height of the cell in pixels.
- Example: If you enter
20
, the row height will be 20 pixels.
This is especially useful if you are listing many images and want them to appear in a uniform, grid-like view inside your spreadsheet.
File Access Settings
The File Access Settings section controls who can access the files you upload or list using Drive Explorer Pro.
You can choose one of the following options:
-
Only me (private)
- Default option.
- Files will stay private in your Google Drive.
- Nobody else can access them unless you manually share them.
-
My organization
- Files will be shared with everyone in your Google Workspace domain.
- Example: If your email is
[email protected]
, anyone with a@company.com
email can view the files when they have the link.
-
Anyone with the link
- Files will be accessible to anyone who has the link.
- This makes files public to link holders, even outside your organization.
Save as Default
At the bottom of the settings page, you will find the option:
-
Save selected settings as Default
- Click this button to save your current choices (image settings and file access settings).
- These preferences will be applied automatically the next time you use Drive Explorer Pro, so you don’t have to reconfigure them each time.
Best Practices
Here are some recommendations to help you choose the right settings:
-
Image Resizing
- Keep the cell size small (e.g., 20x20 px) for quick overviews.
- Increase cell size if you want bigger previews for reviewing images.
-
File Access Settings
-
Use “Only me (private)”
Best for personal files, sensitive information, or when you don’t plan to share the sheet.
-
Use “My organization”
Best for team projects in schools or companies where everyone in the same domain needs access.
Example: Teachers listing homework files for students, or a team sharing project resources internally.
-
Use “Anyone with the link”
Best when files need to be easily shared outside your organization.
Example: Sharing documents or images with clients, vendors, or collaborators who don’t have your organization’s email.
Be careful: anyone with the link can access these files, so don’t use this for confidential information.
