This page answers common questions about using Drive Explorer Pro with Google Sheets and Google Drive.


General Questions

Q: What is Drive Explorer Pro? A: Drive Explorer Pro is a Google Sheets extension that helps you upload files to Google Drive and list file details directly inside your spreadsheet.


Q: Do I need a Google account to use this extension? A: Yes. Drive Explorer Pro works only with Google Drive and Google Sheets, so you need a Google account to use it.


Q: Where can I find Drive Explorer Pro after installing it? A: Open any Google Sheet, click on Extensions > Drive Explorer Pro, and you will see it in the side panel.


Privacy and Security

Q: Does Drive Explorer Pro see all my Google Drive files? A: No. It only works with the files and folders you select while using the extension. It does not have access to your entire Drive.


Q: Does it read the contents inside my files? A: No. Drive Explorer Pro never opens or analyzes the content of your files. It only records basic details like file name, size, and links (if you choose).


Q: Is my data stored anywhere outside Google? A: No. All actions happen securely inside Google’s systems. The extension does not store your files or file data on external servers.


Q: Can other people see my files through this extension? A: No. Your files remain private in your Google account. The extension does not share them with anyone.


Q: Why does the extension ask for permissions during installation? A: Permissions are needed so Drive Explorer Pro can:

  • Upload files into your Google Drive folder
  • List file details into your Google Sheet
  • Show the sidebar inside Google Sheets
  • Confirm which Google account is being used

Usage

Q: Can I upload multiple files at once? A: Yes. You can select and upload more than one file at a time.


Q: What kind of details can I list for files? A: You can choose to include attributes like:

  • Image Preview (You can customize the image preview size using the Image Settings available in the Settings tab)
  • File Name linked to the file URL
  • Direct Download Link
  • File Name (plain text)
  • File URL
  • File ID
  • File Type (Mime Type)
  • File Size (MB)

Q: Where does the list of files appear in my Google Sheet? A: You can choose whether the list starts at the currently selected cell or gets added below existing data.


Q: Does Drive Explorer Pro work with Shared Drives or Team Drives? A: At present, it works with your personal Google Drive folders. Support for Shared Drives may depend on your account permissions.


Q: What happens if I uninstall the extension? A: You can uninstall Drive Explorer Pro anytime from the Google Workspace Marketplace or your Google account settings. Your existing Google Drive files and Sheets remain untouched.


Troubleshooting

Q: I don’t see Drive Explorer Pro in Google Sheets after installation. What should I do? A: Try refreshing your Google Sheet. If it still doesn’t appear, recheck your installation in the Google Workspace Marketplace.


Q: My file is not uploading. Why? A: Common reasons include:

  • The file is too large (Google Drive limits apply).
  • Your Google Drive is out of storage.
  • You don’t have permission to upload to the selected folder.

Q: File details are not being listed in my sheet. What should I check? A: Make sure:

  • You’ve granted all necessary permissions.
  • You’ve selected the right folder in Google Drive.
  • The sheet has write access (you are the owner or have edit permissions).
